History
Allie
Park is a third generation family owned park. The park and amenities have evolved over time. Allie "Ike" Mattox
along with his wife Dorothy (Dollar) Mattox of Dollar's Corner brought the park into existence. The Mattox's owned
approximately 65 acres. The park land was cleared by numerous family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends
and neighbors. At that time the land was cleared for farming and hay.
It wasn't until the next generation that
the park slowly began to evolve. Allie LeRoy "Babe" Mattox, the son of Ike and Dorothy, began to make clearings
within the Firs and Cedars. Allie constructed a fireplace and then he and his son, Michael built a shelter around it, filled
it with sand and that became the Mattox family hang-out for years. It provided a place for small family outings as well as
a place to rest or get out of the elements. That shelter is no longer there, however, the location and corner post is. The
rough-hewn siding is in storage to be used again.
After much sweat equity, donations and additions, the park was
memorialized by Allie LeRoy Mattox to his father "Ike". In 2004, the children of Allie and wife Beverly Norma (Goheen)
Mattox, (Marilynn, Michael, and Becky), created Allie Park, LLC. The park has been open for private events since July of 2008.
